Frequently asked questions
Q: What do we you mean by “responsibly-sourced” paint?
A: “Responsibly-sourced" means that although our the paint we use was once a part of a car at the Cadillac Ranch installation, we do not remove any paint from the cars at Cadillac Ranch—we use paint recovered from the 2019 Cadillac Ranch fire.
In 2019 someone set fire to one of the cars at the ranch. The fire caused the paint from that car to peel off onto the ground. The paint was then collected and removed from the site. We have collaborated with Tailfins, LLC — the official Cadillac Ranch group — to reclaim the paint from this particular car.
Q: Are there brick and mortar locations that sell your jewelry?
A: Yes and no. For the most part, our sterling silver jewelry is available only on our website. Our non-silver pieces are sold at the Cadillac Ranch installation itself in Amarillo and at from the 6th Collective.
Q: Do we you make custom orders?
A: Sure! Yes! Maybe! It really depends on what you have in mind. If you have something specific that you would like, or if there are particular colors that you prefer to see in a necklace, ring, or any of our pieces, please reach out to us at yellowcitystoneart@gmail.com.
Q: What is the PARC? And why do you donate money to them?
A: While there are agencies set up to provide overnight shelter, food and other necessities there is a gap between those services and giving the homeless a place to truly feel like they belong. The Panhandle Adult Rebuilding Center (PARC) was created to address this gap. The PARC was founded right here in Amarillo to provide a safe, clean place during the day where those experiencing homelessness could be called by name, find themselves again, and pursue life’s possibilities.
Beginning in 2021, we began donating 10% of every Yellow City Stone purchase to the PARC to support their work and mission. we especially love that art therapy is an important component of the PARC’s approach. We have been involved with volunteering for the PARC, and we hope that we can continue to support them and spread awareness of their incredible work through this connection with our art.
